I attended my first funeral at the age of 16, when I played the organ for my grandmother’s service. After the ceremony I spoke briefly to the Funeral Director, and expressed an interest in his profession. He invited me to visit him, and within a week I was working for him on a part-time basis!

 

I progressed through working with various companies in order to gain experience in all aspects of the work, taking an early interest in office procedures and arranging funerals.

 

I studied for the industry professional qualification in 1998-9, and I am the proud holder of the Scales Award for the highest marks obtained in the written and practical examinations for the Diploma in Funeral Directing.

 

I also spent some time away from the funeral trade to study for a music degree. In 2002 I took a career break and travelled around the world for a year, a highly positive and eye-opening experience which impacted hugely on my outlook on life. On my return I worked in the travel industry for nearly 4 years.

 

The lure of the funeral profession eventually pulled me back in that direction, and most recently I worked as manager for an independent funeral company.

 

I guarantee to provide wholly impartial advice at all times, and I firmly believe that taking a fully active part in arranging a funeral will prove to be extremely rewarding for my clients.
